The murder of the 17-year old Matlhamola Jonas Mosweu by two farmers left community members fuming.
Community members demand the arrest of the two farmers, Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte, in connection with the murder of the teenage boy.
It was reported that the young boy was caught stealing by the farmers and was thrown out of a moving bakkie in Scotland informal settlement in Tlhabologang, near Coligny, in North West, on April 20.
The two farmers allegedly went to the Coligny police to report that a boy fell off a bakkie and that the police must call an ambulance and go to the scene. They refused to take the police to the crime scene, stating that they had other business to attend to.
When the community members heard about this tragic incident, they went on rampage, three houses and three trucks were torched and several shops were looted.
The two farmers were arrested last week on Wednesday and this week the farmers approached the North West High Court, on an urgent basis, to request an early bail application date and also to move their case from Coligny to Lichtenburg.
The bail application was opposed, and the two men remain in custody until their trial.
Here is how Twitter reacted:
I can believe racism is rife in #Coligny. What human beings sign a petition 4 a murder accused. What abt the dead boy. Who are u people?
