Mzansi Magic’s newest reality show, Uthando neSthembu, follows renowned South African businessman Musa Mseleku and his four wives as they navigate a polygamous relationship, their family dynamic, staying true to tradition in a modern world and the sisterhood of the wives.

Viewers will meet and get to know the four women in a polygamous relationship, Mamkhulu (First Wife), Mayeni (Second Wife), Makhumalo (Third Wife), and Mangwabe (Fourth Wife).

While the wives now maintain a loving and respectful relationship with each other, the journey to peace and harmony was not an easy one of course.

They each share how they felt at first being introduced into a polygamous marriage. They expressed the uncertainty and insecurity that came with the arrangement, the heartbreak and eventual acceptance, contentment and forming an unshakable bond with each other. Something many women would not be able to agree to.

The Mseleku homestead in Umtentweni in rural KwaZulu-Natal is almost always a hive of activity. The are about 10 children between each of the wives, which just means there is even more to deal with.

There’s the daily school routine, homework, activities, household chores and parenting duties, not to mention the fights and squabbles between siblings to deal with.

There’s also no such thing as an idle trophy wife in the Mseleku family. There is more than enough to keep all the wives busy.

There is a family business to run, children to raise and a household for each wife, each Mrs Mseleku’s day is filled up. And, of course, who would forget to spend some time with the husband.

The show will premiere on Thursday,18 May 2017 on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) at 20:00.
