Craig Lucas will be reaching new heights after being crowned the winner of The Voice SA season two.
South Africans have chosen 23-year-old Craig Lucas from Elsies Rivier as the new voice of SA.
The star-studded finale was nothing short of spectacular as the top 7 and guest artists graced the stage.
Coaches Bobby van Jaarsveld, Lira, Karen Zoid and Kahn Morbee opened the show with Europe’s The Final Countdown.
Caroline-Grace Brüssow was joined by Afrikaans singer Nádine.
Josh Ansley wowed the crowd with Magdalene Minnaar and Craig Lucas rocked the stage with Jimmy Nevis.
Luke Lovemore teamed up with former contestant Thembeka Mnguni while PJ Pretorius paired up with Gavin Edwards.
Samantha Leonard belted out a song with pianist Nianell.
Fatman brought the funk with entertainer Emo Adams.
In the end, Craig Lucas surprised everyone when he beat fan favourite Josh Ansley.
This is now the second year in a row that Kahn Morbee has secured the title of winning coach. He must be doing something right!
Apart from being the winner, Craig was also lucky enough to walk away with:
- A recording contract with Universal Music South Africa
- R250 000 in cash from Dialdirect
- A range of Samsung products worth R100 000
- A Subaru Impreza 2.0 Premium CVT
- R100 000 worth of Truworths fashion
The other six contestants also went home with a range of fantastic prizes.
An emotional Craig could not believe he won and said it still felt like a dream to him.
“It’s all just very overwhelming. I’m still waiting to realise that it’s all real.”
The recent graduate is also a bad driver – he has failed his driver’s test five times. Upon receiving the keys to his brand-new Subaru, Craig said: “I’m a bad driver, but I’ll learn to drive!”
