Forget everything you’ve heard about Afro-pop singing sensation Kelly Khumalo, and allow us to introduce you to a side of the singer not many get to see.
Connect had a lunch date with the sultry star, and to say we saw another side to the singer doesn’t quite do the experience justice.
We all know Kelly isn’t a stranger to the tabloids, having been linked to famous men such as the late Senzo Meyiwa and rapper Jub-Jub – the popular singer seems to always find herself at the centre of one headline or another. But there’s far more to her than that.
What we did learn about her during our sit-down is that the media scrutiny doesn’t phase her one bit.
“I always say that I’m an old soul. Things that affect others, things that I should be getting upset about, don’t affect me at all,” Kelly explains.
There were a few things we were surprised to learn about the singer – for one, she isn’t a big drinker. In fact, she hardly ever consumes alcohol.
Kelly is in her 60s fam! Hold on … that’s in terms of maturity. Kelly says she’s probably a ‘sixty-something-year-old woman.’
She’s very spiritual. Two of her favourite songs she’s got on repeat right now are gospel hits.
She isn’t moved by fame or people’s opinions of her. “I don’t live my life wondering what people think of me or what they’ll say about me, I live for me!” Khumalo adds.
Guess we know how she felt, then, about those nasty Ntsiki Mazwai comments…
The only time she really gets excited about anything is when she’s on stage. Kelly revealed that because of the energy she exerts on stage, she completely switches off the moment she steps on to one.
Now here’s a wowzer: Kelly says she’d marry RnB/soul singer, Vusi Nova!
You might recall that the two singers were seen cozied up in a saucy snap taken at Somizi’s house a couple of weeks ago.
