The 2017 Standard Bank Rising Star Awards showcase SA’s finest young talent

The award recognise young South Africans who lead in their areas of expertise.

The 6th annual Standard Bank Rising Star Awards celebrated the finest young talent in the industry

The competition saw 60 young people going through a rigorous judging process where their potential as future and current leaders was assessed.

The overall purpose of the assessment and subsequent award ceremony is to identify and publicly recognise young South Africans who lead in their areas of expertise and have the qualities needed to join a guiding coalition of other Rising Stars, and are able and willing to walk the talk to help themselves and others rise to the top of their game.

The criteria for selection is formed on these principles: Vision and the Ability to Create, Team Effectiveness and Collaboration, Trust and Ethics, Communication and Listening as well as Motivating and a Committed Attitude.

The keynote speakers were CEO of Business Leadership in SA,  Mr. Bonang Mohale, and the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Thokozile Xasa, and the audience was left in stitches by the MC, comedian Joey Rasdien.

Upon congratulating the awardees, Mr Mohale took the opportunity to emphasise the need for quality leadership in the country. “This country is dying for ethical leadership. For critical, conscious and courageous leadership.”
