South Africans are in shock after hearing the news that former Generations actor Mandla Hlatshwayo has died.
Former actor and Jozi FM DJ, Mandla Hlatshwayo was shot dead during a robbery on Sunday night. His death was confirmed by CEO of Jozi FM, Mpho Mhlongo, earlier today.
Mhlongo took to Facebook to share the tragic news with fans.
‘It is with sadness that I inform you of the passing of our beloved brother, friend and colleague, Mandla Hlatshwayo. He was gunned down last night at Meli pub in Pimville. He will be sorely missed. May his humble soul Rest In Peace!’
The actor and DJ was shot dead along with another victim who is believed to be his friend during a robbery at the pub. Speaking to News24, police spokesperson Captain Hitler Mgwenya said the incident happened at 11pm on Sunday night. It’s been reported that four suspects entered Meli pub and robbed the patrons at the pub.
Hlatshwayo and his friend are said to have tried to help those being robbed and were shot dead in the process.
The 40-year-old star was best known for his role as Siphiwe Phosa on popular soapie Generations. He played the role of Siphiwe for seven years – from 1999 to 2006.
